Why I Rebranded the Podcast to “Market This” and What You Can Expect Next
If you have been hanging out with me for a while, you have probably noticed that things look a little different around here. New name. New vibe. Same Lindsay. So today I want to walk you through why the podcast officially became Market This, why the shift matters, and what to expect from this next chapter.
This is the most open and transparent I have ever been about my business in podcast form, so consider this your behind-the-scenes pass into my brain.
First Things First — What Happened to Content Magic
Content Magic will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first podcast baby, and so many of you tuned in week after week, left reviews, DM’d me, and supported the show in the most generous ways. I am truly grateful for that.
But over time, something became very clear.
When I used the word “content,” most small business owners heard one thing.
Instagram.
They didn’t think
• websites
• blogs
• emails
• long form content
• podcasts
• offline materials
They heard social media. And that meant I was constantly walking people backward and re-defining what content truly is.
And here is the truth.
Content is part of marketing, not the whole thing.
My actual expertise is marketing strategy — specifically messaging, positioning, copy, visibility, and the human side of how small business owners show up. And I realized the podcast name needed to reflect that.
Once I owned the word “marketing,” everything clicked.
Why I Wanted to Call Out Small Business Owners Directly
Another huge realization.
I have always worked with small business owners.
It is where I thrive. It is who I understand.
And it is where I can have the biggest impact.
There is something incredibly special about working with a one-person business or a tiny team. The passion. The ownership. The grit. The desire to grow without burning out. And I love being the person who comes in and gives them clarity, confidence, and practical direction.
So naming the podcast Market This: The Go-To Marketing Podcast for Small Business Owners felt like telling the truth out loud.
It is who the show is for.
It is who I serve.
It is who I cheer on every day.
The Oopsie Break That Made Everything Clearer
Let us talk about the unplanned break that happened over the summer.
I am the primary parent in my house. When the kids are home, it is full on. Loud. Busy. Chaotic. And podcasting requires something I simply did not have at the time.
Silence.
Between kids yelling, lack of mental capacity, and the general swirl of life, recording weekly episodes became nearly impossible. And honestly, the break gave me space to step back and look at the podcast strategically.
I asked myself
• What is working
• What is not
• What do I actually want this show to be
• How can I make it sustainable
That space led to clarity. And that clarity led to the rebrand.
Why This Show Needed Structure Too
One of the biggest insights from my break was realizing I needed to create seasons or blocks of episodes. Instead of forcing weekly episodes all year, I now build strategic podcast seasons that align with my actual capacity.
The schedule now looks like
• New episodes from fall until December
• Break
• New episodes from winter to spring
• Break for summer
• Repeat
This lets me deliver a high quality show without burning out or recording between kid screams.
